My Kitchen Window

My kitchen window faces our back pasture. I love looking out of it. The view can consist of birds of all kinds, squirrels, dogs, cows and other rodents not worth mentioning! It never ceases to amaze me how I can look out that window and find some sort of spiritual truth to what I an witnessing. The other day, it was my cows that brought that truth my way. We have six cows that all have been birthed and raised in our pasture and so have become quite the "pets" to me! Their water container is right in the view of my window, and so I get to see them several times through out the day. As I was washing the dishes, they gathered together and started serenading me for quite some time. Now, to most people their moos would probably sound like regular moos, but to me, they sound quite soothing. I still haven't figured out if they can actually see me at the window, but it sure seems like they can! I realized that they were probably wanting me to come and fill their water container. You see, unless we go and turn on the hose and fill that container for them, they are helpless to get water for themselves. Guess what....that was my spiritual truth staring right at me. They are totally dependent on our bringing them water and quenching their thirst....and we are totally dependent on the Lord to quench our spiritual thirst! The Bible tells us that we were created to thirst after God. Psalm 42:1-2 "As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God;..." and Matt.5:6 tells us, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.". Our thirst can only be filled by our Heavenly Father. Seeking Him through His Word, spending time in His presence and obediently following His ways, satisfies the God-given thirst within us. Of course, it must all begin with a personal relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. How are you trying to fill your thirst?

  1. It is amazing how the Lord speaks the same message half way around the world! I have heard in the last few days two different people talk about a similar idea! It is all about allowing the Lord to be our focus for the day - allowing Him to satisfy our thrist! I wish I was there to look out your window! Great job! Carol
