Day 5 of Holy Week brought with it a grieving family who had lost their youngest son this week in a horrible accident. We have all grieved and wept over this tragic loss and as I stood before the casket yesterday, staring at this beautiful boy, these words came to my mind almost immediately..."absent from the body, present with the Lord". Death and resurrection. Pain and suffering. Jesus wept and cried out to his Heavenly Father in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matt. 26:36-39) as this young woman has cried out to hers. Jesus asked for his cup to be taken from him as this mother asked for hers to be taken from her. Jesus endured his pain and suffering, he endured the ultimate feeling of loneliness while hanging on that cross SO THAT this grieving mother may know and embrace the hope that she will one day see her beloved son again. This family embraced the Son of God several weeks ago, as their Savior and Lord. This little boy understood why Jesus came and died for him.
Day 6.... Death and resurrection....hopelessness and hope. As Dr. Tim Clinton (AACC) wrote...."Life is no longer a hopeless end....it is an endless hope." Death....Resurrection....Hope....Life Eternal !!
In the assurance of His death,
Debbie
